Darius is only seven years old—a gentle boy with bright, innocent eyes. Each morning, he walks to school through cold, clinging mud, his feet wrapped in torn slippers that offer little protection. Darius, his mother, and his six siblings were abandoned and forced from their home by their father. Since then, they have survived one night at a time—sleeping wherever someone could offer a corner, and often beneath the open sky.

When asked what he wished for this Christmas, Darius didn’t speak of toys or sweets. In a quiet voice, he said, “A Christmas tree… and a home.”
